I stood at the bank of Botany Bay, intensely looking at the Great European ships and boats come onto the harbour with my brother. Ships and boats of different sizes and colours started arriving, one by one. As the small boats reached the harbour, we stood around the bay looking at the strange-looking men on the boats in fear. They watched us from a distance on their boats, trying to find out who we were. Soon, they stepped onto our land holding something strange. Holding spears tightly in our hands, we were prepared if they were trying to harm us.

Suddenly, we heard a loud bang coming from one of the big ships near the harbor. In fear, we started to raise our spears to warn the strange people intruding on our land. The other Europeans quickly came onto the land holding guns and rifles and started shooting at us. I stood there watching blood flow out of my people’s heads. Fearing for my life, I quickly ran off and hid in a nearby secluded cave. Gunshots and shouting could still be heard in my refuge. I could hear the European’s footsteps coming closer with the clack of rifles.

Feeling anxious for my family and my relatives, I mustered my courage to go back to Botany Bay. After a few minutes, I reached Botany Bay where I saw many of my people killed and injured. My tears started flowing when I saw my brother lying lifelessly on the ground. Blood drenched the soil where they got killed. I looked around and saw tents filled with Europeans. Anger and horror filled me when I saw them  laughing and gathered around the firepit. Wiping off my tears, I ran to my friends as fast as I could and told them the bad news. I realised how powerful the Europeans were and decided to leave them alone. I felt terrified and helpless, not knowing what I could do to save my family and myself from these evil intruders.
